Pierce Morgan, a British broadcaster, has revealed why Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo approached him for a contentious interview.
WITHIN NIGERIA previously reported that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner exposed his grievances following his transfer to Old Trafford, including being “betrayed” by the club.
Ronaldo, according to Morgan, intended to focus the conversation on his problems at United and his strained relationship with Erik ten Hag.
Rumour has it that a portion of the journalist interview will be made public on Thursday night.
However, the Portuguese talisman’s brief public statement has elicited conflicting reactions from football experts, fans, and the general public.
After the initial snippets were shown on Sunday night, which infuriated the club and his own teammates, the Red Devils will be prepared for more shocking remarks from Ronaldo in the expected complete tape.
While acknowledging his close relationship with the Portuguese superstar, Morgan claimed that Ronaldo’s connection with him pushed him to agree to the interview.
Furthermore, he justified the clip’s release date, claiming that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner intended it to be released just before the World Cup in Qatar.
In an interview with talkSPORTS, Morgan stated:
Cristiano asked me to do it. Simple as that. I didn’t ask him, he asked me. He’s been thinking about this for a while, it’s no secret he has built up deep frustration about what has been happening at United,”
He feels he has to speak out, he knows it will be incendiary, will rattle some changes, but he also feels he should be doing this. He knows people will criticize him but he also knows what he is saying is true,” he added.
Sometimes the truth hurts. He’s been thinking about this for a while and I got a call. The World Cup is about to start. It gives him a month away from United and it gives time for what he has said to settle in. He can come back and resolve things.
He loves Manchester United and the fans, but what he has come, said the broadcast journalist.
