Anambra: Troops kill 13 suspected IPOB members, arrest herbalist after raiding shrine

Troops of the Nigerian Army have killed 13 persons believed to be members of the Indigenous People of Biafara (IPOB) and also arrested a herbalist who prepared charm for the group.

The Director, Defence Media Operations, Major General Musa Danmadami, disclosed this at a press briefing on Thursday at the Nigerian Defence Headquarters, Abuja.

Danmadami said the operation was carried out on November 12, by the troops at Isuofia in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State when they came in contact with IPOB/Eastern Security Network (ESN) militants, neutralising 13 and arresting six others, including their herbalist.

He said, “Troops neutralised 13 Indigenous People of Biafra/Eastern Security Network criminals, arrested six including their herbalist; troops equally recovered eight AK-47 rifles, seven pump action guns, three locally made pistols, one sniper rifle, 15 rounds of 7.62mm special, 13 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, and 8 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

“Others were five cartridges, three pairs of combat boots, 2 pairs of camouflage uniforms and two camouflage jungle hats.”
