Cristiano Ronaldo, a forward for Manchester United, claims Erik Ten Hag “provoked” him into leaving the match against Tottenham Hotspur.
In the second segment of his TalkTV interview with Piers Morgan, which aired in the UK on Thursday, the 37-year-old made this assertion.
Additionally, Ronaldo claimed he felt disrespected by Ten Hag after the Dutchman decided to substitute him for three minutes against Spurs after refusing to play him against Manchester City.
“You don’t put me on against Man City because of respect for my career, and you want to put me on for three minutes against Tottenham?
“It doesn’t make sense. I think he did it on purpose. I felt provoked not only because of that game but before.
“He don’t respect the way I should deserve. But it is what it is. This is why probably, the game against Tottenham, I left,” Ronaldo said.
