Police Arrest ‘Kidnapper’ While Buying Food In Kwara

The police in Kwara State say one Umaru Mohammed, a suspected kidnapper, has been arrested and arraigned.

According to the police, Mohammed, 20,was arrested while buying food and slippers at Oro in Irepodun LGA of the state.

The suspect had since been arraigned on a two-count charge of criminal conspiracy and kidnapping.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), one Ibrahim Umar complained that two of his sons, Umaru Ibrahim (14) and Yusuf Ibrahim (four,) were kidnapped by Mohammed and two others, Babangida and Laagi.

The prosecutor, Gbenga Ayeni, told the court that, “They later demanded a ransom of N30m but were paid N400,000 after negotiation. However, the suspect was later arrested at Oro where he went to buy food and slippers.

“N52,000 was found on him after a search as part of the share of the ransom he collected which he confessed to during investigation.”

The magistrate, Isah, remanded the suspect and adjourned to November 30, 2022.
