Police Resist Bandit Attack On Residents In Zamfara

The Dansadau Emirate in the Maru local government area of the state was the target of planned attacks by bandits, according to the police command in Zamfara.

According to a statement released on Wednesday in Gusau by police spokesman Muhammad Shehu, a distress call about bandits‘ plans to attack the communities was made between November 11 and November 14 to police tactical operatives stationed in some areas vulnerable to bandit attacks in the Dansadau emirate.

Quickly reacting, the agents went to the scene in an effort to fend off the assault.

The hoodlums were forced to retreat into the forest with possible gunshot wounds after a severe gun battle broke out between the robbers and the operatives, according to the police statement.

It added that two AK-47 rifles with 35 rounds of live ammunition and charms belonging to the bandits were seized. The police stated that 16 suspects had been arrested.

“The command’s new crime-fighting strategy is yielding positive results as it is currently curtailing the lingering insecurity bedevilling the state. Two suspects were arrested for kidnapping and rustling in some parts of Bukkuyum and Gusau LGAs,” the police explained. “The command also succeeded in the arrest of the bandits’ kingpin of Kwatarkwashi town in Bungudu LGA.”

According to the police, a suspected bandit kingpin terrorising villages in Tsafe LGA and the outskirts of Gusau has also been apprehended by the joint police and vigilance team on Anka Bukkuyum Road.
