The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Zamfara State Governor Bello Matawalle’s bid for reelection have received the backing of the Zamfara Council of Ulamas.
Additionally, the clerics gave President Muhammadu Buhari and Matawalle’s administration good marks for their performance.
The announcement was made yesterday in Gusau at a meeting with Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa, the state coordinator for the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council.
Speaking on their behalf were Sheikh Abubakar Fari, Chairman of the Zamfara State Council of Ulama, and Shiek Liman Muhammad Dan-Alhaji, Chairman of the Imams of Jumat Mosques and Chief Imam of the Gusau Central Mosque.
He was quoted in a statement by the Publicity Secretary of the APC in Zamfara State, Yusuf Idris Gusau.
The cleric said they are convinced beyond doubt that the APC Presidential candidate is unequalled and will be the next best thing that will happen to the country.
Marafa, had urged the Islamic scholars, comprising juma’at mosques imams and their deputies, muazims and others to support Tinubu’s candidature, saying his support for the former Lagos State governor was borne out of the presidential candidate’s track record of achievements.
Marafa said, as a two-term governor of Lagos State, Tinubu left an enviable record cutting across economic, social, empowerment and political development.
If voted, he said Tinubu will replicate the successes recorded in Lagos at the national level.
