Senator Shehu Sani, a former federal legislator, has made mockery of the All Progressives Congress-led administration over a National Bureau of Statistics report that claims 133 million Nigerians are multidimensionally poor.
Recall that the National Bureau of Statistics reported that 133 million Nigerians remain multidimensionally poor, despite the federal government’s aim to elevate 100 million Nigerians out of poverty in ten years.
According to the NBS, a lack of access to security, employment, living standards, health care, and education is what causes poverty. Additionally, it showed that 35% of the poor, or around 47 million people, reside in the South while 65%, or 86 million people, do so in the North.
However, Senator Sani took to his verified twitter handle to express how the promise to uplift millions of people from poverty has turned around in the opposite direction.
He wrote, “They promised to lift one hundred million people out of poverty; now they have officially thrown one hundred and thirty three million people into deeper poverty.”
