Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, has advised the people of Benue to vote for candidates who understand their plight.
He stated this on Friday while speaking to supporters in the state’s Gboko Local Government Area.
According to him, the general elections in 2023 should produce leaders who will ensure that the issue of attacks by suspected Fulani herdsmen is properly addressed to prevent future occurrences.
Vote for those people who know you and know your pains. Next year please, vote for the right persons. We want a Benue where children will be in school and everything will be normal, he said.
Several residents of the state have been displaced from their ancestral homes as a result of unprovoked attacks by armed men suspected of being Fulani herders.
WITHIN NIGERIA, some Benue people recently clashed with the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, for allegedly siding with Fulani people during attacks.
