The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Kwara state Command, rescued three people from a kidnappers’ lair in Ilorin, the state capital.
According to reports, the victims boarded a Keke Napep at Oja-Oba in Ilorin at around 7 p.m. on November 9, 2022, and traveled to Lanre-Gada in Ilorin metropolis.
According to the story, while the tricycle was moving, a gang member allegedly pulled out a revolver and threatened to shoot them if they raised the alarm.
Instead of going to Lanre-Gada, the driver of the Keke Napep detoured into the bush, where they were tortured.
However, based on intelligence, civil defence corps anti-mining unit operatives led by Mr A. Yusuf tracked and raided the kidnappers’ den at around 9.20 p.m. on the same fateful day and rescued the victims.
Though the kidnappers escaped, our source learned that a brand new motorcycle purportedly utilized in their kidnapping operations was discovered in their den.
Mrs Abdullateef, one of the victims, detailed her ordeal in the incident in a video that has gone viral on social media.
She said “I boarded the Keke Napep from Oja-Oba heading to Lanre-Gada in Ilorin.
“I met a woman and the driver in the van, as we proceeded, the driver picked up one other passenger on the way, a man.
“When we got to another point, the driver picked another small child and told us he would be going through Alagbado area because of traffic hold up on the normal route.
“Shortly after, the man he later picked up brought out a pistol and threatened to kill us if we raised the alarm. I was seated in the middle of two passengers of the Keke Napep at the back,” she recalled.
Efforts to reach the spokesman of the civil defence corps, Ayeni Olasunkanmi, on the incident, in Ilorin on Saturday proved abortive.
