World Cup: Wayne Rooney exposes England’s major weakness

Wayne Rooney, a Manchester United legend, has identified England’s major weak point ahead of their 2022 FIFA World Cup opener against Iran on Monday.

The 2022 World Cup will commence on Sunday, with the host nation Qatar facing Ecuador.

England are in Group B at the tournament alongside Iran, Wales, and USA.

But Rooney, who said England have one of the best squads at the World Cup, admitted that their center-backs could cost them during the tournament.

According to him, other countries have stronger center-backs than the Three Lions.

“England have one of, if not the strongest squads. Full backs, midfielders, attacking players — there is strength right across the board,” Rooney told The Times.

“The only area that is not as strong as some of the other nations is the centre backs.

“Previously, we’ve had the likes of Rio Ferdinand and John Terry, who were world-class.

“When you look at Raheem Sterling, Harry Kane, Phil Foden, Jack Grealish and Bukayo Saka, we have got to choose from, it’s as good as we have had.”
