Ecuador was denied an early goal against the hosts, Qatar, in the opening match of the 2022 World Cup by a close offside call.
In the fourth minute, Enner Valencia thought he had put the South Americans ahead.
After Qatar goalkeeper Saad Al Sheeb was caught off guard, Valencia headed in from close range.
However, the goal was chalked off after a lengthy review by the VAR team, much to the chagrin of the players and viewers.
Fans were also left confused as no explanation was given at the time.
But subsequent replays showed Michael Estrada’s foot and knee were marginally offside in the build up.
