Rustlers bag 2 years jail term in Niger

Two rustlers, Umar Magaji and Abdullahi Mohammed, have been sentenced to two years imprisonment each.

They are convicted and sentenced by a magistrates’ court in Minna, Niger State.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Inspector Bello Mohammed, told the court that sometime in September, 2022, one Muhammadu Sani and five others reported to the police that thieves invaded their Fulani village in Paikoro LGA and stole 12 cows and N3.3m cash.

He said police operatives swung into action and arrested Umar Magaji and Abdullahi Mohammed of Minna and Mayaki village and that they confessed to the crime during police investigation.

The Magistrate, Adamu Abubakar, sentenced them to two years imprisonment each but gave them an option of paying N140,000 each.
