David Johnson, a former Liverpool player, has passed away at the age of 71.
The former England striker is one of just two players to score in the Merseyside Derby for both Everton and Liverpool.
Johnson, who had previously played for Ipswich Town FC, was a key member of Bob Paisley’s Liverpool team in the 1970s, which dominated the era by winning four league championships and three European Cups.
Reacting, Ipswich Town FC wrote in a tweet via its Twitter handle on Wednesday: “The Club are saddened to report the passing of former striker David Johnson.
“David represented the Blues from 1972-1976. May he rest in peace. dies at 71.”
