Three suspected cultists arrested in Edo hotel

Three notorious members of the Eiye secret cult confraternity have been arrested by the police in Edo State.

The state police spokesperson, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday, November 28, 2022, said the suspects were arrested in a hotel in Benin City at about 11:30pm on Sunday.

The statement read, “Operatives of Anti-Robbery team of Ugbekun Divisional Police Headquarters, Benin City, Edo State stormed a certain hotel along Enomayo, Off Upper Sakponba Road, Benin City and arrested one Bright Omonowa ‘m’ age 34 years, Clifford Patrick ‘m’ age 22 years and Issac Peter ‘m’ 23 years, recovered one Cut-to-size locally made gun and one Black Beret of Eiye Secret Cult Confraternity, following a credible intelligence on the suspects’ clandestine meeting in the Hotel.”

The Commissioner Of Police in the state, CP Mohammed Dankwara, warns the members of the various Secret Cult Confraternity and their sponsors to desist from their impious activities in the State or be ready to face severe punishments.

The CP reiterates his commitment to fight arduously to see that crimes and criminally are reduced to a barest possible minimum, if not totally eradicated in order to pave way for peace and tranquility Edo State is known for.

He further stated that DPO Ugbekun Division, Benin City, has duly transferred the suspects to Anti-Cultism Unit of the Command for discreet investigation and prosecution.
