Almiron has since turned the corner and has been superb in the Premier League prior to the World Cup break.
England and Manchester City winger Jack Grealish has issued an apology to Miguel Almiron, months after making a degrading remark about the Newcastle superstar.
Back in May, Grealish risked the wrath of the football world after speaking out term regarding Almiron during Manchester City’s title celebrations.
“There were two secrets… one, Riyad [Mahrez], take him off the pitch, as soon as possible. He played like [Miguel] Almiron. Number two, [pointing at Silva] he’s been so good this season, get him off the pitch.” Grealish could be heard saying in a video that went viral months ago.
Months after the incident, Grealish admitted he might have gotten carried away by “a few drinks”. In an interview with The Guardian, Grealish opened up on his sentiments in what was the first time he was directly asked about the whole debacle.
“It was the day after the season finished and obviously I’d had a few drinks and stuff.” He said. “Straight after that…because I didn’t realise, we were out celebrating and I wasn’t on my phone on social media. And then I remember I was in Ibiza and it had obviously come out.
“That was one thing I regret. When I said earlier that sometimes I do stupid stuff, that was one. I regret that. I swear, I’m actually buzzing the way he’s reacted.”
Almiron, a Paraguayan, footballer, has since used Grealish’s jibe in May to fuel his ambitions in the Premier League.
He already has eight goals and one assist in the Premier League prior to the World Cup break.
