A romance fraudster, Ifeanyi Ezenagu, aka Emeka, has allegedly robbed a lady identified simply as Amarachi, of her valuables after they met in a hotel in Owerri, Imo State.
It was gathered that the incident happened on Thursday, November 4, 2022, when the duo were said to be on a date.
According to Instablog9ja, Amarachi slept off after taking a drink allegedly laced with a drug by the suspect and woke up later to discover that Ezenagu had disappeared with her phone.
“My friend went out with this man on his invitation and he gave her a drink which had been laced with a drug in his hotel room. She woke up to find him gone with her iPhone 12 ProMax, 32-inches bone straight hair missing. She retrieved her line and discovered that he had cleared out N320,000 from her account.
“When we uploaded his picture on our pages, different victims reach out to us about how he did the same thing to them. This man must be arrested. My friend has been behaving strange since the incident. Only God knows what he gave her to drink,” a source told the blog.
Ezenagu was said to had been arrested in August for allegedly robbing different women in the Surulere area of Lagos State.
The 34-year-old suspect reportedly lured the victims into hotels and drugged them to sleep before stealing their valuables.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, had in a release in August 2022, stated that Ezenagu robbed 30 different women of valuables estimated at N2,368,000.
While commenting on the latest incident on Twitter, Hundeyin wrote, “After his arrest in Lagos, he was arraigned at the Yaba Magistrate’s Court on August 17, 2022, and remanded in the Ikoyi Correctional Facility. The court subsequently granted him bail. Next date of hearing is January 24, 2023.”
Speaking with PUNCH on Sunday, the police spokesperson said that the Lagos command would not re-arrest Ezenagu since continuation of the case he was being tried for in the state was slated for January 2023.
The Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, Michael Abattam, said he could not confirm the incident as he was not in the office to check his records.
