Ekpe Ogbu, the kidnapped Benue State Commissioner of Housing and Urban Development, has been released.
SP Catherine Anene, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), confirmed the commissioner’s release on the command’s media platform Tuesday evening.
It was earlier reported that the captors opened talks and demanded N5 million ransom.
The commissioner was said to have been kidnapped at the Adankari Junction along the Otukpo-Ado Road on Saturday.
The state government, who explained that the Hilux van the victim was travelling in had been recovered by the Police in Otukpo on Saturday, vowed to rescue the commissioner unhurt.
