Cristiano Ronaldo, the captain of Portugal, has responded to his team’s World Cup round-of-16 victory over Switzerland on Tuesday.
Ronaldo, who did not play against Switzerland, congratulated his teammates on defeating Murat Yakin’s team in Qatar.
Portugal defeated Switzerland thanks to a hat-trick by Goncalo Ramos and goals by Pepe, Raphael Guerreiro, and Rafael Leao.
Reacting, Ronaldo, in a post via his Instagram account after the match, said the Portugal team is full of talent and youth, adding that the dream is alive.
The former Manchester United forward wrote: “Amazing day for Portugal, with a historic result in the biggest contest in world soccer.
“Luxury exhibition by a team full of talent and youth. Congratulations to our national team. The dream is alive! To the very end! Come on, Portugal!”
Ronaldo will now hope to start for Portugal when they face Morocco in the quarter-final stage on Saturday.
