In a bid to expose students to employment opportunities and to increase their business acumen, final year students of Yaba College Of Technology (YABATECH) will on the 12th of December hold a maiden Business conference at the Yusuf Grillo Auditorium.
The conference organized by the Business Administration HND 2 students and tagged ‘BEYOND THE DEGREE’ will have industry players and business experts in attendance and would expose students to firsthand industry-related information and also steer up their entrepreneurial spirit through access to relevant technical information.
The conference organizing committee secretary, Damilola Abiodun, told Within Nigeria that the conference will help graduating students carry out self-assessments on their employability status.
“It was born out of the need to expose graduate students to contemporary trends and opportunities to give us a competitive edge over our peers from other schools. One of its main objectives is to bridge the gap between town and gown as it hopes to discuss industry-related issues,” he said

Obafemi Omokungbe, Rector, Yaba College of Technology; Prof. Bolajoko Dixon-Ogbechie, HOD, Business Administration, University of Lagos; Gbenga Odunowo, Chartered Financial Analyst, and Catherine Ibrahim – Project manager, Lagos state employment trust fund(LSETF).
