Mai Mala Buni, the governor of Yobe State, has cautioned political parties in the state against using violence and divisive rhetoric while running for office in the general elections of 2023.
Buni issued the warning while launching the first phase of the 54-kilometer Ngalda-Mutai road construction by the North-East Development Commission in Ngalda town in the Fika Local Government Area.
Additionally, he gave instructions to those running for political office to focus their efforts on issue-based campaigns that would advance harmony and peace in the State.
“Let me use this opportunity to call on politicians cutting across all the political parties to avoid all forms of violence, inciting and hate speeches in the course of their campaigns.
“We should concentrate on campaign-based issues that would promote our dear State”, he said.
The Governor, however, commended President Muhammadu Buhari for establishing the North-East Development Commission, (NEDC), while also appreciating the Commission for the road project and others aimed at uplifting the living standard of people in the State.
“The construction of this road would obviously open up the rich agriculturally endowed communities, and facilitate easy movement of people, goods and services to stimulate more agricultural, commercial and economic activities in the benefitting communities”, he added.
