Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has said those kicking against the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) proposed cash withdrawal limit policy are simply kidnappers, bandits and others.

WITHIN NIGERIA recalls that the CBN had on Tuesday unveiled a maximum of N100,000 cash withdrawal per week for individuals and N500,000 cash per week for companies.

The revised cash withdrawal limits, which take effect on January 9, 2023, also affect other payment channels, including Automated Teller Machines (ATM), Point of Sale (PoS) and cheque-based transactions.

Also, the maximum cash withdrawal through ATM is set at N100,000 per week, subject to a maximum of N20,000 cash withdrawal per day.

The proposed cash withdrawal policy limit policy received knocks from many Nigerians including business / finance experts, stakeholders and the senate.

The Senate not only faulted the Apex bank but has also scheduled a debate on the matter for next Tuesday.

Reacting to the cash withdrawal limit policy, Omokri wrote: “There is no Nigerian that needs more than ₦100k cash weekly. Other than paying bus conductor or buying groceries, everything can be done cashless.

“It is kidnappers, bandits and sexual bandits (urgent 2k girls) who are fighting this policy using political godfathers. #TableShaker.”
