A 90-year-old man and two other people were reportedly slain by bandits in a nighttime attack on Friday in Gombe State.
Gombe Police Commissioner, Mr. Oqua Etim, confirmed the attack and said the 90-year-old and two other people were massacred during the bandit attack. Three other people were seriously injured and were taken to the hospital for treatment.
He claimed that the elderly man’s hut was burned down by bandits while he was asleep. Numerous homes and grocery stores are said to have burned down during the attacks.
He urged locals to separate politics from criminal activity and warned them against endangering people’s lives for political gain.
He testified that political activities are going on smoothly but criminality in every society is an ongoing process and the command is doing its best to combat all forms of criminals in the state
