Bandits kill Zamfara district head

Bandits have killed kogo Hamza, the district head of Yankuzo in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

Hamza was shot severally by bandits along Tsafe Yankuzo Road and was rushed to the Federal medical Centre, Gusau, where he died Saturday night.

Yankuzo is the hometown of the dreaded bandits’ leader, Ado Aliero, who was declared wanted by the military.

According to The PUNCH, an indigene of the area, Audu Mohammed, said that the district head was attacked by bandits along Tsafe Yankuzo road on Saturday while he was returning to his domain after a meeting with the Emir of Tsafe.

Mohammed said, “The bandits had wanted to abduct him but he refused to stop.

“They chased him and opened fire at his car where he sustained six gunshot injuries.”

“He was rushed to Tsafe General hospital and later transfered to the Federal Medical Centre Gusau where he finally died on Saturday night.”

The state police spokesperson, SP Mohammed Shehu, could not be reached on phone to comment on the incident as at the time of filling this report.
