Two suspected terrorists and cattle rustlers have been arrested by the police in Kankia Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The state police spokesperson, SP Gambo Isah, who confirmed the arrest in a statement on Monday, December 12, 2022, said the suspects conspired with other terrorists, attacked one Abubakar Amadu with dangerous weapons and robbed him of the animals.
Gambo added that the command after arresting the suspects, recovered eight cows from them.
The statement read, “On 08/12/2022 at about 1845hrs, based on credible intelligence, the Command succeeded arresting two suspected terrorists and recovered eight rustled cows and two (2) sheep. Nemesis caught up with the duo of one (1) Rabiu Umar, ‘M’, aged 25yrs of Salihawa village, Matazu LGA, and (2) Surajo Lawal, alias ‘ORI, ”M’, aged 30yrs of Rimin Kanwa village, in possession of eight rustled cows and two (2) sheep at Gidan Kanya, Sukuntani village, Kankia, property of one Abubakar Amadu, ‘M’, of Tafashiya village, Kankia.
“In the course of investigation, suspects confessed to the commission of the offence and stated that on 30/11/2022, they criminally conspired with the following terrorists (now at large) 1. Bala Usman, M, of Gabace village Kankia, (2) Samaila Sule, M, of Salihawa, Matazu, (3) Idi Uba, M, of Kanwa village, Kankia and attacked the house of the victim with dangerous weapons and robbed him of the animals.
“All the rustled animals were recovered while effort is on top gear with a view of arresting the other members of the syndicate. Investigation is ongoing.”
