Following Portugal’s elimination from the 2022 FIFA World Cup, AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic said it was not important for him to convey a message to captain Cristiano Ronaldo.
Recall that Portugal lost to Morocco 1-0 in the World Cup quarterfinal last weekend, and Ronaldo was powerless to save them.
Ronaldo’s journey to the dressing room after Portugal’s elimination has been reenacted on television screens all over the world, signalling a trying conclusion to the forward’s pursuit of World Cup glory.
Asked if he would send a message to the 37-year-old, Ibrahimovic told reporters in Dubai, “I think it is not important what I can say. I mean, everybody wants to win the World Cup; not everybody gets to win the World Cup.
“Everybody is trying and if you don’t win it, obviously, you will get emotional, if you win it, you also get emotional in a different way.”
