Sheik AbdulJabar Nasiru Kabara has been sentenced to death by hanging for blasphemy against the Prophet of Islam by a Kano Senior Magistrate presided over by Justice Ibrahim Sarki Yola.
The state administration charged Sheik AbdulJabar Nasiru Kabara of uttering unremarkable comments about the prophet Muhammad, and the magistrate ruled him guilty of all accusations brought against him.
In adopting his final written addresses, dated and submitted on September 20, the defendant pleaded with the court to throw out the lawsuit brought by the Kano State Government against him and order the state to apologize to him.
But the prosecution counsel, Mamman Lawan-Yusufari, SAN, closed the case after four witnesses testified while the defendant presented one witness and tendered 24 books and memory card evidence to prove his case.
The defendant presented himself as a lone witness.
