Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested one Godstime Oke, for allegedly stabbing his co-tenant, Gaga Allia, to death following a heated argument over an unpaid N300 electricity bill in Warri.

The gory incident reportedly occurred at about 10pm on Wednesday night at their rented apartment at No. 32 Oleh Street, Okumagba Layout, Warri.

It was gathered that both Oke and Allia, said to be friends, were residing in a one-room apartment in the house and Oke was the one collecting the electricity bill from the entire tenants in the compound for easy remittance to the authorities.

According to PUNCH, while Oke was not around, one of the tenants in the compound reportedly paid his N300 due to his friend Allia. But when Oke returned home and asked Allia to give him the money paid by the other tenant, Allia was said to have refused.

Consequently, a fight erupted between the duo in the course of which Oke reportedly used a broken bottle to stab Allia in the neck region and he bled to death.

Seeing the veracity of his action, Oke reportedly took to his heels as he narrowly escaped being lynched by an irate mob.

He was said to have fled from the scene to nearby Ugborikoko neighborhood where he was apprehended on Thursday and handed over to men of the Nigeria Police Force ‘B’ Division in Warri.

The state police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Bright Edafe, who confirmed the incident noted that efforts were ongoing to apprehend one Tega, an alleged accomplice.
