Mr. Ben Kure, the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) state chairman for Kaduna, announced his resignation and departure from the party yesterday.
This happened just a week after Kure’s dismissal was announced by the party’s State Working Committee.
Kure said that on December 6, he submitted his letter of resignation to the party’s National Secretariat.
He claimed that Suleiman Othman Hunkuyi, the party’s candidate for governor, among other unconstitutional interferences, prevented him from working freely for the party’s advancement in the State.
When contacted, Hunkuyi said, “I have no comment”.
Kure was removed on December 6 following a vote of no confidence passed on him by the state working committee of the NNPP at its meeting and deliberations.
The motion for the removal was moved by zone 3 Vice Chairman, Hosea Baba and seconded by the state organising secretary, Alhaji Sa’ad Idris Kudan.
Kure said: “Having done the best I could, it is time to move on with my life. My experience with NNPP in Kaduna is regrettable. I do not ever hope to have anything to do with the majority of the state Exco members. I, therefore, wish to inform you and all my supporters and associates that I have resigned as the Kaduna State chairman of NNPP and I am no longer a member of the party. I will take a rest, reflect on my political future and inform the public appropriately.”
