Lionel Messi, the captain of Argentina, has vowed to continue playing for his country after they win the 2022 World Cup.
The 35-year-old was widely anticipated to declare that this would be his final international match.
However, Messi has stated categorically that he will continue to represent his country.
Messi told TyC Sports: “No, I’m not going to retire from the national team.
“I want to keep playing as World Cup champion with Argentina shirt.”
The Paris Saint-Germain star scored twice as the final ended 3-3 after 120 minutes.
Two quickfire goals from his PSG teammate, Kylian Mbappe, forced extra time, where both players scored one each before the match was decided on penalties.
