Katsina State Governor Aminu Bello Masari has directed that the former Kiddies International School, which the state purchased from a private owner, be converted into a skills acquisition training center for young women in the state.
Masari, who issued the directive while hosting a World Bank team on a supervisory mission to the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment Programme (AGIAL), stated that the goal was to engage young married women in skill acquisition for self-sufficiency.
He thanked world Bank for assisting the state
He said: “The re-introduction of pre- qualifying exercise for public examinations was part of measures to raise the performance of final year students of secondary schools in the state.
‘’Government had seen the light of the of the measures which made it possible for the students’ performances at WAEC and NECO increase from about 20 per cent to 70 per cent.”
The World Bank team leader Hajiya Aisha Garba said the visit was to see the good work carried out in the state with the Funds allocated for AGIAL programme.
