2023: Nigeria in grim situation – PDP

The Delta State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday urged Nigerians to vote against the All Progressive Congress (APC) in next year’s elections, claiming that the central ruling party has plunged the country into a dire situation.

The APC and its leaders, according to the PDP, are grossly incompetent, wicked, and ill-informed, and should not be given power again.

Funkekeme Solomon, Director of Campaigns for the Delta State PDP Campaign Council, stated this in Asaba during a press conference to announce the start of local government campaigns.

According to Funkekeme, Nigeria has become the world’s poverty capital, with unprecedented insecurity making Nigeria an unsafe place for lives and property as a result of the APC’s misrule at the federal level.

Besides, unemployment, inflation and food insecurity have brought untold hardship on Nigerians, the type we have never seen since the evolution of this nation.

PDP believes that Nigeria seriously needs to depart from our current experience of electing incompetence and free herself from the APC tragedy that has turned a land flowing with milk and honey into a suffering nation.

We agree that rather than present candidates for the 2023 elections, APC should be apologizing to Nigerians for the rot it has brought the nation into.

The clueless party and its officials lack the gumption to understand and appreciate the enormity of the problems they have created and so lack the basis to even field candidates.

It is against this background that we call on Nigerians not to relent in holding APC to account for the worsening state of affairs in Nigeria, and therefore reject it with their ballots at the polls by voting massively for all the candidates of the PDP across board for the purpose of resetting and rescuing Nigeria from the untidy and chaotic path that APC has brought her, he said.

Funkekeme also urged Deltans to show their continued support for the PDP by casting massive, overwhelming votes for the candidates.

He described the completed ward-to-ward campaigns as “extremely successful,” adding that the party will continue to engage in issue-based campaigns for the upcoming local government tours, which begin on December 21.

The Atiku-Okowa presidential ticket is what Nigeria needs to reset and rescue this nation from the mess that the APC has plunged her into.

Our governorship ticket of Sheriff Oborevwori and Monday Onyeme is what Delta State needs to build further on the good legacies of the administration of former Governor James Ibori, former Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, and the legacies of the wonderful administration of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, who is also the Vice Presidential candidate of the PDP. This will be done through the M.O.R.E. Agenda, he added.
