The Christians Northern Nigeria Political Forum (CNNPF) pledged on Tuesday to mobilise support for APC presidential candidate Bola Tinubu ahead of the general elections in 2023.

The group, which congregated in Kaduna, declared that Tinubu was the most deserving candidate for president of Nigeria.

Tinubu was described as a visionary leader with excellent ideas, policies, and strategies for the growth and development of the nation by the CNNPF Coordinator, Mr. Ibrahim Itodo.

He asserts that God has bestowed a rare wisdom on the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, enabling him to navigate complex leadership situations and lead Nigeria to new heights.

Also, the Women Leader of CNNPF, Christina Bature explained that members of the Forum believed in Tinubu’s capacity and his goodwill for Nigeria.

“As an elder statesman, we are optimistic that he will deliver on the mandate to restore lasting peace, modernize the education sector, improve and agriculture, safeguard all citizens and return all IDPs to their habitats,” she said.

In his speech, Gov. Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State, assured that Tinubu would be just, fair and equitable to all Nigerians, if elected president.

He said that the forthcoming election was not about religion or ethnicity, but about capacity, competence and commitment to the people.

“I appeal to you not to listen to any sentiment and support Tinubu, I know all the aspirants and I know their capacities, no one can match him,” he said.

El-Rufai admonished Nigerians to reject the religious narrative, saying that Tinubu as a Muslim has a Christian wife for over 30 years, who is also Senior Pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God.

According to him, Northern politicians agreed that after eight years of President Muhammadu Buhari, the presidency should go to southern Nigeria in the interest of fairness, equity and unity.

He said North west governors particularly supported Tinubu because of his track record and performance when he served as Governor of Lagos State, and what he can do for Nigeria.

In a remark, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, wife of the APC presidential candidate, described the unity of Nigeria irrespective of ethic and religious differences, as a plan of God.

“In unity we can move forward,” she said, adding that Nigerians should keep praying for the nation to be more blessed.

She expressed appreciation to the group for the mammoth crowd of supporters and their resolve to vote for Tinubu and the APC in 2023.

Earlier, Dr Hadiza Balarabe, the deputy governorship candidate of APC in the state, urged party supporters to carry the message of unity to all nooks and crannies of the state.

“We are more focused on competence and capacity which are needed for a brighter and greater Nigeria under Asiwaju Bola Tinubu,” she added.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event was attended by Governors of Kano and Katsina States, Abdullahi Ganduje and Aminu Masari, respectively.
