Some members of the Tricycle Owners Association of Nigeria, TOAN, have allegedly attacked officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, with dangerous weapons while they were on official duties in the Ojota area of the state.

The Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA, Adebayo Taofiq, who disclosed this in a statement said one of the officers, Oguntimehin Ajibola, was injured in his left eye with broken bottles by the attackers and had been admitted at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja.

Adebayo added that the weapons used against its officers included cutlasses, iron, broken bottles, and local charms.

According to preliminary investigation by the agency, tricycle operators numbering about 20, had attacked the officers after they were informed that the Toyota Camry FKJ 161 HB of their newly elected chairman, known as Henro, was detained for illegal diversion by LASTMA officials at Ojota.
