The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) will soon receive a new name from the federal government.
The Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) will be its new name.
The proposed revision to the Finance Act, which is currently before the National Assembly, must pass in order for the name change to take effect.
According to Zainab Ahmed, Minister of Finance, Budget, and National Planning, the chief executive will be referred to as “Commissioner-General” rather than “Chairman.”
She spoke when she appeared before the Senate Committee on Finance.
Other provisions are the reorganisation of the FIRS Board by separating the executive management.
