Senator Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna Central lawmaker, has slammed Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike for closing Atiku Abubakar‘s campaign office in the state.
As previously reported by this platform, the Rivers State Government ordered the campaign office in GRA Port Harcourt to be sealed off in the early hours of Friday.
Remember that Nyesom Wike signed Executive Order 22 a few weeks ago, which prohibits political parties from citing campaign offices in residential areas without government approval.
The Rivers State PDP presidential campaign council, on the other hand, claimed that its media team had requested permission from the state government but had not received a response for several weeks.
The PDP PCC condemned the state government’s action, saying it violated their fundamental right to free expression of opinion.
In response to the development, Sani took to the microblogging site Twitter to condemn the Rivers State government’s actions.
He wrote:
The report of the sealing of the Atiku Abubakar PDP Presidential campaign office in PH is unfortunate and wrong.

WITHIN NIGERIA also reports that the sealing comes at a time when Wike and other disgruntled Governors (G5) have vowed not to support the PDP candidate, Atiku, for president in 2023 due to an internal party crisis.
