Victor James Osimhen, a Nigerian football player, has provided an explanation for his decision to keep his family and personal affairs hidden from social media’s prying eyes.
The Super Eagles forward confirmed that his hesitation is a means of safeguarding his baby mama and their 2-month-old baby girl in an interview with the Italian publication Il Mattino.
He claimed that in order to shield them from the awful things that people posted on social media, he had kept the specifics of their existence hidden from Twitter and Instagram.
Osimhen said; “There is always someone who is ready to criticise, to pour out hatred, to insult.” As long as they do it with me, it’s part of the game, and you can even ignore it.
“But I could never accept that someone could use abusive words towards my daughter or any of my family members. I don’t want to suffer these attacks on my affections, that’s why I defend my family’s privacy from the attacks of those who hate and are capable of writing horrible things on social media.
“I keep my private life to myself because it is not available to anyone.”
Although his family is safe from social media drama, the 23-year-old striker is often the target of abuse and insults from rival fans on the pitch and online.
