Noah Adigun, an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, has been confirmed dead.
The party confirmed Adigun’s death in a statement on Wednesday morning, noting that the politician died after a short battle with diabetes.
WITHIN NIGERIA has learned that the deceased was the former Chairman of Ogbomoso North Local Government Area.
Adigun, also known as Oba Ni Jesu, died on Tuesday, December 27 at the age of 70. According to a statement issued by his party, the former council chairman died in a hospital where he had been admitted for diabetes complications for about a month.
Adigun was said to have been elected chairman of the local government area over two decades ago on the platform of the United Nigeria Congress Party (UNCP).
The deceased belonged to the Ologolo royal family of Ogbomoso’s Soun, but grew up in the Oponlu compound of Okelerin.
Adigun was a secondary school teacher before entering politics, and he celebrated his 70th birthday about two months ago. His wife and children survived him.
The party’s statement reads:
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Ogbomoso North Local Government regrets to announce the shocking death of one of its leaders, Hon Adigun Olatunji Noah, who passed away today after a very brief illness.
Oba Ni Jesu, as the deceased was fondly called, was the former Chairman of Ogbomoso North Local Government and a strong pillar of Akala Political Dynasty.
May the Lord rest his soul peacefully, comfort the family he left behind and grant them the fortitude to bear this great loss.
