The Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) has named Oluwatobiloba Amusan as the continent’s top female athlete for 2022.
Amusan won the prize ahead of Ethiopian Letesenbet Gidey and Kenyan Faith Kipyegon.
The 25-year-old competed 25 times in the 100m hurdles in 2022, securing 17 victories.
The athlete with dark skin made history by winning gold at the World Athletics Championships in Oregon, United States of America.
Amusan was the first African and Nigerian to achieve the feat, as well as set a new world record in the event.
She also successfully defended her African and Commonwealth titles.
Amusan drew the curtains on a smashing season by clinching the Diamond League trophy.
