Ancelotti Refuses To Call Messi GOAT

Despite Argentina’s World Cup victory in Qatar in 2022, Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has refused to declare Lionel Messi the greatest player in history.

Lionel Messi led Argentina to its first World Cup title since 1986 in December, defeating France in a penalty shootout. His dream of winning the grand tournament was realized.

Given Cristiano Ronaldo’s elimination from the competition following Portugal’s 1-0 quarterfinal loss to Morocco, many people believe Messi’s victory in Qatar has put an end to the GOAT debate.

Despite winning the World Cup, Lionel Messi, according to coach Ancelotti, is not the greatest of all time. The Italian coach insisted that Johan Cruyff and Diego Maradona were more deserving of the GOAT award than Messi.

It’s difficult to tell; I’m not sure if he’s the best in history”, Ancelotti stated during Real Madrid’s pre-game press conference on Thursday morning.

It’s not fair to say that, because each era has very good players. ‘Messi is the best in history won’t come out of my mouth, he noted.

Ancelotti went on to add: ‘I’ve enjoyed so many good players… I train in the Ballon d’Or every day. And I’ve seen Cruyff, Maradona play…’

On the other hand, thousands of football fans and experts claimed on social media that Messi’s performance at the 2022 World Cup put an end to the GOAT debate.

Messi’s victory in Qatar, according to Jamie Carragher, is enough to elevate him above every other player in the game’s history.
