Fani-Kayode Defends Yahaya Bello Over Okene Explosion, Sends Message To Opposition

Femi Fani-Kayode

Former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode has defended Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello in the aftermath of the Okene explosion.

WITHIN NIGERIA previously reported that the incident, which occurred near the old palace of the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, killed three people and injured two others.

The bomb explosion, according to a statement issued by the Kogi government on Thursday, was the work of opponents of progress and state detractors.

The government stated that it received intelligence that an explosion was imminent and immediately deployed security personnel across the state to thwart their efforts.

Despite the massive deployment of security personnel across the state, the terrorists carried out their threat to divert President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to the state, according to the statement.

Following the tragic incident, some critics of the Yahaya Bello administration blamed the governor for the explosion.

In a tweet on Friday, Fani-Kayode responded to the accusation by saying those holding the governor responsible for the explosion are mentally ill.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain went on to say that the lie and accusation levelled against the Kogi governor are motivated by hatred and envy.

He wrote:

Those that are accusing @OfficialGYBKogi of bombing his own traditional rulers’ palace on the day that @MBuhari was scheduled to commission projects in his state are suffering from mental illness.

The lies that people tell when they are motivated by hate & envy beggars belief.
