Gunmen Bomb Imo Police Station Hours After Attack On Ex-Gov

Gunmen Bomb Imo Police Station

Gunmen bombed the Afor Atta Divisional Police Headquarters in Imo State’s Njaba Local Government Area on Monday night.

This comes just hours after gunmen attacked the convoy of former state governor Ikedi Ohakim.

WITHIN NIGERIA had previously reported that the incident resulted in the deaths of four police officers.

Speaking about the attack on his convoy, Ohakim stated that the gunmen intended to kill him in the attack, but they were able to flee.

The former governor of Imo State admitted that he would have died if it hadn’t been for his driver and the bulletproof car he was riding in.

According to a community source who spoke with Punch about the latest attack in the state, the attackers stormed the police station and threw explosives on it, causing it to burn.

According to another report, no police officers were on duty when the gunmen stormed the facility.

The source said;

The police station in my community has been burnt. It was burnt last night. Nobody could come out because of fear. As we speak, the area is deserted.

The same police station was in June 2021 vandalised after two courts beside it were burnt.
