Idowu Olamide was remanded on Thursday by an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun for alleged N1.8 million fraud.
The defendant committed the crime between March and December 2022 at ARIKADIS Nig. Ltd., Mokuro Road, Ile-Ife, according to the prosecutor, Inspector Sunday Osanyintuyi.
According to Mr. Osanyintuyi, the defendant converted a total of N1,809,000.00—the proceeds of his sales as ARIKADIS Nig. Ltd.’s clerk—for personal use.
Sections 383(3) and 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002, were also violated, he continued.
However, the defendant, who was not given legal representation, entered a not guilty plea to a single count of fraud.
Magistrate O. B. Adediwura did not grant bail to the defendant, but asked him to come with formal application for his bail.
Mr Adediwura thereafter ordered Mr Olamide to be remanded at the Correctional Centre in Ile-Ife, pending the consideration of his bail.
Mr Adediwura adjourned the case till February 2, for mention.
