Anambra: Gov. Soludo receives Presidential Technical Committee on Flood Management

The Governor of Anambra state, Prof.Chukwuma Soludo, receives a special technical committee on flood management that came to inspect the level of damages caused by flooding in communities in Anambra state.

The  Deputy Governor, Dr Onyeka Ibezim who represented the Governor of Anambra state, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo in his statement during the inspection of the communities ravaged by the devastating flooding said that the special technical committee have seen the communities and the level of damages caused by the flooding.

He pleaded with the committee to expedite action immediately to salvage the sufferings of the people in the communities affected by the devastating flooding.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Environment, Engr. Dr. Felix Odumegwu, in his address hailed Federal government’s prompt response in alleviating the suffering caused by the flood menace to the people of Anambra State, and pleaded that federal government should implement fully it’s policies on environmental  degradation in other to tackle  the issue once and for all.

The Flood Management committee led by  Engr. Dilichukwu Joe Etigbue  and his team which covers experts from federal ministry of water resources, Ministry of environment, ministry of health, ministry of humanitarian affairs said that the essence of the visit is to visit the flood sites and likewise interact with the people who are affected by the flood   and causes of flooding and possibly come up with solutions and strategies to minimize the impact on the citizen

WITHIN NIGERIA gathered that areas visited include:Umueze anam, Umambala river,Central primary school umueze Anam,Ezechi river, Anambra west, Otuku umuata anam unity primary school, Aba egbu umu oba Anam health centre, Ezi agulu out.

Present in the visit includes Hon. commissioner for Environment, Engr.Dr Felix Odimegwu, Transition Chairman Anambra west, Hon.Felix Ikechi, Transition Chairman Anambra East, Hon Anselm Onuorah among others.
