Ronaldo: DStv speaks on broadcasting Saudi league

Digital Satellite Television, DSTV, has reacted to reports of planning to broadcast the 2022/23 Saudi Pro League after Cristiano Ronaldo joined Al Nassr.

The Sub-Saharan African broadcast satellite service said it has no plans of broadcasting the 2022/23 Saudi Pro League.

WITHIN NIGERIA recalls that 37-year-old Ronaldo moved to Saudi Arabia by joining Al Nassr for a deal that will see him stay at the club until June 2025.

Ronaldo was officially unveiled at the club’s stadium on Tuesday, January 3, after completing his medicals.

Following his announcement as Al Nassr’s latest acquisition and the Saudi Pro League’s biggest transfer, there were reports that the DStv would buy television rights for the league.

However, DStv has debunked the claims saying there are no immediate intentions to show the Saudi Pro League despite acknowledging how big Ronaldo move is, Joy Sports reports.

The satellite broadcast station said it considered the idea of buying television rights for the Saudi Arabia topflight as “premature.”

Fans were looking forward to a repetition of the move the DStv took ahead of the start of the 2018/2019 season when it bought the rights for the Italian Serie A following the arrival of Ronaldo at Juventus, according to Joy Sports.
