The Supreme Court’s affirmation of the current Deputy Governor, Umar Namadi, as the legitimate candidate on Friday put an end to the protracted legal battle over the All Progressives Congress, APC’s, governorship ticket in Jigawa State.
The primary election held on May 26 that resulted in Namadi being declared the winner was upheld by the supreme court in a unanimous decision written by Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun.
The appeal filed by former House Minority Leader Farouk Adamu Aliyu was completely dismissed in the ruling issued by Justice Ibrahim Saulawa on behalf of the court.
The five justices of the court who heard the case unanimously agreed that it lacked merit and substance.
Namadi, through his counsel, Prince Lateef Olasunkanmi Fagbemi, SAN, had won the legal battle at the Federal High Court in Dutse as well as at the Court of Appeal in Kano.
