Following the defection of Goodluck Adenomo, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, the All Progressives Congress (APC) chapter in Edo State has gained more supporters.
According to information obtained by WITHIN NIGERIA on Friday, the native of the state’s Ovia South West Local Government Area and his flock of supporters defected to the APC.
On Thursday, Adenomo was welcomed at the APC’s administrative center.
The former PDP leader reportedly explained his decision to leave by claiming that he switched parties in order to support Dennis Idahosa, a lawmaker who represents the Ovia Federal Constituency, in his campaign for reelection.
The politician praised Idahosa and said that compared to previous representatives of the constituency, his performance was superior.
Stressing the need to support Idahosa, he said;
It is for this reason for that my teeming supporters and I have decided to pitch tent with the APC to support the reelection of Idahosa.
His performance in the office within the space of three years remained an eye opener to us in Ovia because we have had lawmakers before him who didn’t come close to what he had done.
Emma Ogbomo, the APC chairman for Ovia South West, responded by saying he was thrilled to see Adenowo join the party at this time while welcoming Adenomo and other new members.
“We are indeed happy with your coming and want you all to know that you will be accorded the same privileges and rights as the old members,” The PUNCH quoted Adenomo saying.
