Man United star ruled out of derby with City

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has ruled out Portugal defender Diogo Dalot from Saturday’s derby with neighbours City at Old Trafford.

Ten Hag revealed this while speaking at a press conference to preview the derby.

Dalot was withdrawn during the first half of the Carabao Cup quarter-final win over Charlton Athletic.

“I think Diogo Dalot is not available and Anthony Martial, he trained this morning so we have to wait to see how he recovers from this training and if he’s available. We will make the decision tomorrow.

“It is a small thing in his leg [with Martial] and, if he is not available for tomorrow, it will be Wednesday [at Crystal Palace].”

Donny van de Beek and Jadon Sancho have both been sidelined of late, and are also set to be out.

Ten Hag gave update on the signing of Netherlands international and Burnley striker Wout Weghorst.

“Weghorst wasn’t available in the last weeks and it could be a bonus if he was,” added Ten Hag. “Hopefully, he will soon be there and also we are winning a lot of games without Anthony Martial.”
