Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members who supported former Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose have vowed not to support Senator Abiodun Olujimi in the election scheduled for next month.
According to reports by WITHIN NIGERIA, the Fayose group will support Yemi Adaramodu of the All Progressives Congress in the National Assembly election on February 25 for the Ekiti South Senatorial District.
Under the auspices of Fayose’s Osoko Political Assembly, the group gave reasons for their choice, citing Olujimi’s alleged failure and her choice to vote against the party’s interests in the previous year’s governorship election.
These were announced on Saturday during a campaign rally in Ise Ekiti by PDP members from the six councils in the senatorial district, including members of the party’s State Executive Committee, candidates for the House of Assembly, ward/local government chairmen, former House of Assembly members, and former political office holders.
In the upcoming election, the group urged PDP members to support the APC senatorial candidate.
Dare Pelemo, a former member of the House of Assembly, spoke on behalf of the group and explained that the goal of the rally was to educate party members on the importance of supporting Adaramodu in the senatorial election.
He said;
We in Osoko (Fayose) group are not going to vote for Senator Biodun Olujimi because she has not done well for our senatorial district, our communities, and for us as a people.
We are here to tell our people who to vote for. Our leaders have agreed that we should vote for Yemi Adaramodu, the APC candidate for the Senate. It is not about party. It is about interest. It is better to vote for a person who can do it very well; that is what our leaders have seen in the APC candidate.
