We are being antagonized by Anambra state govt. – Labour Party

In the face of alleged dismantling of Labour Party bill boards in Anambra state by the state government, the Labour Party has alleged that they are being recklessly punished by the state government.

In a press conference on Sunday by the state chairman of the party, Hon. Emeh Ugochukwu Emmanuel, the Labour Party equally alleged that the Labour Party in the state is being given exorbitant charges by the state government to discourage them in the state.

”I have it in good authority that the antagonism by the State Government against the Presidential Candidate of Labour Party, His Excellency Mr. Peter Obi has been carried to a higher level.

“As I speak, the billboards that reflects the image of His Excellency Peter Obi and other Labour party candidates in Anambra state are being dismantled against the spirit of live and let live. Labour Party were unprecedentedly starred with unprecedented charges to discourage us from projecting the image of His Excellency Peter Obi against what was obtainable in the previous elections. We paid in obedience to government order.”

Explaining further, the party stated that “our application to hoist mini-billboards on the streetlight poles along Express roads was rejected but it is evident that the billboards of other candidates of other parties are being hoisted on the same poles not even that of a candidate to say the least.

“One wonders why Labour Party Presidential candidate and Labour Party candidates are being recklessly punished by Anambra state government.

“We condemn this punitive act. It is not acceptable.”

Calming the nerves of the party supporters, the party however stated that “at this juncture, I call upon the good people of Anambra, loving people of Labor Party and Anambra state to exercise restraint and remain calm in the face of this provocative disposition towards us.

“We are watching and Nigerians are watching.”
