Nottingham Forest has signed Brazilian midfielder Danilo from Brazilian club Palmeiras.
Nottingham Forest and the Brazilian club agreed to sell Danilo for around £18 million. On Monday, the 21-year-old signed a six-and-a-half-year contract with the Premier League club.
Before signing, the midfielder appeared 141 times for Palmeiras, where he was named to the Team of the Year in 2022 after the 11-time champions won the Campeonato Paulista and Brazilian Série A.
After sealing his deal with Nottingham Forest, Danilo described the move to the Premier League club as a dream come true.
He said:
I’m really happy to be fulfilling my dream of playing in the Premier League and playing for Nottingham Forest.
I learned a bit about the history of the club and saw they had won two European Cups. I spoke to Gustavo Scarpa as well, and he told me that Nottingham is a great city and Forest have a quality squad with really good staff.
I will show a lot of determination and a strong desire to win and will always look to do my best on the pitch to achieve positive results. I’m excited about getting started and meeting my new teammates.
Nottingham Forest is currently 13th in the league table, having won three consecutive league games to move out of the relegation zone. Danilo’s arrival is expected to help Forest climb the table before the end of the season.
The club’s Sporting director Filippo Giraldi said:
We are really happy to welcome Danilo to our club and our city.
He is a fantastic talent that will be a great asset for the present and the future of Nottingham Forest.
